Takeout Tribulations

A lot of my posts on this site have to do with food, which is funny because I don't eat out very often (house poor, anyone??), although I still cling to the experience as a last vestige of being a D.I.N.K. - when I could squander a C-note on dinner and drinks without a care in the world.

However, whether I do venture out or order in, I always hope for the best, even if it's local delivery. Which brings me to today's point:

I'm now at desperation levels. Where can a girl get great SUSHI this side of Greenwood? I've been ordering from Aji Sai at Jones, but last night DH noted that the size of the rolls keep getting smaller and smaller every time we order. The quality of the fish is excellent, but the serving is a fraction of what my personal fave (Sushi Inn) serves.

And it took over an hour to get our food.

Our monthly sushi takeout ritual needs a Danforth East injection! Anyone have any suggestions?

  1. We've been ordering from Happy Sushi, near the new Home Hardware. Quality is decent, rice is ok, portions are good. And we always get a bonus in our order. Still costs us $35 for dinner, but it's closer and we get more.

  2. Well I was gonna say the same thing. I have had good luck with Happy Sushi- they are inexpensive and fast and close (2143 Danforth Avenue). I can't vouch for the quality of the meat or seafood because I haven't tried them- but the veggie stuff is good. It's not The best Japanese place ever- but it's tasty and good value.

  3. Happy Sushi is good. They are usually very quick and the price is in order with what I get at work. They are pretty friendly and accommodating.

  8. I've wondered about Happy Sushi, glad to know something nearby will fit the bill.

If you can make a small trek north on Millwood to Laird and want to splurge a bit, Mikado has been around for 30 year and is a traditional Japanese restaurant, complete with tatami mats in the back.
