Schools Out For Summer....(but not forever)

Summer vacation has just started and your little monsters are driving you crazy already. What to do with them? Zoo...too far. Beach...too hot. Art camp....hmmmm, that sounds like a great idea. If you're thinking what I'm thinking then you're definitely living in the right neighbourhood.

For the budding "artista" in your life, there are two options to choose from that are close to home:

Lucsculpture, at the corner of Greenwood and Danforth, is offering full-day or half-day summer art camp for kids 6 - 13. They have a full schedule of things like Batik painting (how adorable!!), drumming circles, clay fun (of course) and paper-mache hats. It's a little pricier than Toronto run daycamps - but they aren't on strike. A bonus: Luc can run the classes "en francais" - don't people always say that the french are more creative anyway?

Your Jr. Danforther can also partake in some mosaic magic at Mosaic Beach Studio's summer kids classes. Although flying shards of glass may not seem like the most child proof idea, owner Tanya Macfarlane assures me that it is all safe. There are afternoon classes three times a week where the kiddies will make things like flower pots and picture frames you can adorn your living room with. More information here.

Alternately, you can just turn on the sprinkler in the backyard and hope for the best.......
