Farmers' Market Update

Good news!

For all of you who have been asking, I finally have an update on the East Lynn Farmers' Market situation. They will still go ahead as planned, in the park tomorrow afternoon as per usual.

Thanks to DECA for keeping me in the loop on this!

  1. I have more info regarding this. Although the market will proceed as usual, the City wants it cancelled. In fact, I spoke with a City manager yesterday who was at East Lynn emptying the garbage bins, and he indicated that the City had issued a notice to cancel the market. So in short, the market is proceeding despite the City's request not to do so. The main reason for going ahead is likely due to the fact that FMO has already paid the City for a permit to use the park, and the farmers have already paid their yearly fees to sell at the market. Not to mention the fact that these farmers need to sell their products or risk having them spoiled. I certainly agree with FMO to proceed despite the City's objections, which in my view, are unfair.

What does this mean to market customers? Please, take your trash home with you, and if you see any litter, perhaps pick it up and toss it in a trash bin. Let's not give the City any reason to enforce the cancellation of the market. We need to leave the park as clean and litter free as possible, because this strike could last weeks or months, and we certainly don't want to lose the market for that amount of time. - Leo
